Autonomous Rover Control System (IDEX)
End-to-end electronics and control for an autonomous rover - Jetson Orin high-level computer, STM32 vehicle controller with Ackermann steering, and a MAVLink-to-TCP telemetry bridge.
Jetson Orin · STM32 · MAVLink · TCP/IP · BLDC · Ackermann Steering · Linux
Overview
Built at DroneStark Technologies: the complete control system for an autonomous rover, covering all electronics and software. An NVIDIA Jetson Orin is the high-level computer and an STM32 slave board handles real-time vehicle control.
Electronics: designed the control-system architecture and wiring harness, and harnessed the rover's custom BLDC hub motor.
Vehicle control: coded the complete rover control system on STM32, including Ackermann steering and safety checks.
Communication: a MAVLink-to-TCP bridge running as a Linux service on the Jetson streams rover telemetry and health status to the client's edge ML pipeline.
Platform: set up the Jetson Orin Linux environment so the client's ML pipeline and the MAVLink bridge run together on the same machine.
